The following is a list of key authorities and their area of responsibility for the Hume Highway duplication: Woomargama to Table Top.

NSW Department of Planning (DoP)
www.planning.nsw.gov.au
DoP is responsible for approval of various environmental and management plans as required under the Conditions of Approval for the project.

DoP also regulates activities that impact on watercourses, riparian zones and groundwater within Crown lands, and soil management issues.

 

NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC)

The DECC regulates:
  • Air quality, water quality, and noise.
  • Contaminated soils and waste management.
  • National Parks and reserves, biodiversity and threatened species in accordance with the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974.
  • Indigenous heritage.

 

NSW Heritage Office

Approval authority for activities that impact or potentially impact on non indigenous heritage items.

 

Department of Primary Industries (DPI)

Department of Water and Energy (DWE)

The Department provides policy, legislative, regulatory and management advice in relation to water and energy matters.

 

WorkCover NSW

Government body responsible for managing the State's workplace safety, injury management and workers' compensation programs. WorkCover promotes workplace health and safety, and provides a workers compensation system for the employers and workers of NSW.

 

Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts

Greater Hume Shire Council

Greater Hume Shire Council was constituted by proclamation on 26th May 2004. The new council area comprises all of the former Culcairn Shire, all of the former Holbrook Shire (except for an area of 19.2 sq km transferred to the Tumbarumba Shire) and approximately 81 percent of the area of the former Hume Shire.
